Over recent months, I’ve knocked on nearly every door in Sydenham district - listening to families, students, single parents, newcomers, and diverse neighbors.
Their voices, concerns, and hopes have shaped the priorities you’ll see here. These are the commitments I’m dedicated to delivering. Together, rooted in community, we will build a stronger, fairer, and more vibrant Sydenham district for everyone.

Create and protect a dedicated fund to accelerate repairs of sidewalks, potholes, and roads, with a clear maintenance schedule and public progress tracking.
Implement traffic calming measures - including new traffic lights, safer pedestrian crossings, and enhanced monitoring of traffic violations - especially near schools, parks, and other high-traffic areas.
Focus on high-risk areas including Johnson and University Streets intersections.
Expand winter snow clearing services to ensure sidewalks and bus stops are cleared promptly for safe passage.
Rebuild and expand the urban tree canopy while enhancing green spaces. Rather than removing trees for new development, use innovative methods and technology to relocate and preserve them, maintaining our community’s natural beauty and environmental health.
Create protected bike lanes and safer pedestrian pathways throughout the district.
Promote ecological sustainability to enhance the health and vibrancy of our neighborhoods.
Promote standards for clean yards and responsible garbage management across all properties through clear communication and support for property owners.
Balance heritage preservation with practical home upgrades to improve livability.
Provide covered garbage bins to all households - including student residences - and increase garbage bag allowances during peak move-out periods to reduce litter, enhance cleanliness, and support better waste segregation and recycling in our neighborhoods.

Retain talent: It’s ironic that hundreds of doctors and other healthcare professionals receive their education and training at Queen’s, yet Kingston continues to face shortages. We need to increase our efforts to retain healthcare professionals in the community.
Develop affordable and safe recreational facilities and programs for all ages.
Support after-school and youth engagement activities to foster community connection.
Support initiatives that combat racism and discrimination.
Encourage culturally sensitive community programs and policing.

This not-for-profit initiative will be supported by a small team of full-time employees and dedicated volunteers. Customers can pick up orders at accessible public locations such as libraries and hospitals, with home delivery available for those unable to collect their groceries.
Foster collaboration among food banks and other not-for-profits addressing food insecurity to enhance their efficiency and collective impact.
